After the Blow Day

Young John first appeared in this blog a couple of years ago.

After yesterday’s big wind the current boiled along the island this morning making a simple fishing plan go into the drink. Temp varied from 35 all the way down to 8o feet. It was up, then down, then up further. Setting the lines to cover a wide swath was the only way to approach the fishing and then I was adjusting the pattern up an down often. Dipsy divers had the most action today and  produced the best fish. We ended up with a good, all-king catch with several fish like the one in the photo making for a bunch of pounds of fillets to take home.

Conditions should settle soon and the fish that have been scattered out off the island should return to the banks in good numbers. The best baits continued to be spoons and I didn’t have a hit on a fly mostly because I never put one in the water.

I saw a men focused on family today. Smart all.
