Leland Fishing Report – May 31, 2011

It’s pretty shameful that I have not been keeping this blog up to date and I pledge to make things right.

This May I had the chance to chase tarpon with flies in the keys and, well, I jumped at it. That is why I’ve delayed putting the boat in the water and really getting a serious 🙂 report out to you who want to know  what is happening. Today I spent four hours waxing the hull from the rub rail down to the water line and tomorrow morning I’m going into Leland Harbor. But even though I have not been out yet, I have kept up on the fishing and here is what I know.

One of the guys, the one who docks closest to the dam, went to the island this week and marked what looked to be salmon, but had no hits. Lots of bait out there too is the report.

And in -shore the trout are thick and hungry in all the usual places another captain told me. I believe catching a limit is a sure thing if the wind allows it. I don’t know how deep and all that, but 60 feet is a good place to start. I’ll be out there thursday and will post the results.
