Spring Comes to the North – Hopefully

Craig picked me up at 6:30 and we headed to to Good Harbor Bay to fish of the mouth of Shelda Creek for steelhead from the beach.  Being just back from the south, I didn’t have a Michigan fishing license yet and I let him do the fishing while I watched. He cast two floating spawn bags out into the current and propped the rods up with forked willow branches that he jammed into the sand. We watched the rods and the spectacular morning and talked to another guy who came down to fish and talked about stuff and watched the rods some more. Eventually we decided that breakfast in Leland  sounded good.

Spring is at the door and fish will follow soon. With the late spring I’m not going to launch the boat until the last week of the month and I think lake trout for sure will be there and  a salmon, maybe, may be there by the end of the month. Spring is good.
