August 13, 2010 — 22 Salmon on a Half Day Trip

First I have to tell you that I didn’t catch 22 kings this morning, but another charter boat did. At half-time (lunch) he took a beating from the other skippers who kidded him. “Why didn’t you call us and tell us to come over to where you were,” one captain asked?

“You would have accused me of bragging,” came the reply. “And now that I didn’t brag you  accuse me of withholding,” he added with a smile.

The other captain came back, “We’re not going to give you a break.”

Life around charter boats  skippers is always interesting, especially if you keep your mouth shut like I do most of the time.

For those of  you who are reading this to get enough information to go fishing in your own boat this weekend I would say that the island continues

If you think you are going to catch 22 of these like one of the charters did this morning, then you need to take a pill and og to bed early. Good catches are there for all, but 22????

to be strong; witness the guy who caught 22 on the island this morning.  Both spoons and flies worked. What separated the men from the boys is knowing how and when to use each and I can’t help you there in this short blog. I expect the fish to be down 90 – 100 feet  tomorrow to start the day.
