August 1st, 2010 Leland Salmon Report

These kids were up until 1:00 a.m. at a bon fire and then got up and went fishing with me a 5:45 a.m. Kids are tough.

I had never fished with Jef before, but was glad I did. While we trolled for kings he shared with me his in-depth knowledge of freshwater fly fishing. As you regular readers of this blog know I like fly fishing, but my experience in western rivers is zero and so it was fiun to listen to some one who knows them well.

Fishing was different than I expected this morning. We got out to the island early, but only had one hit in the first half-hour and didn’t mark all that much. It took awhile to figure out where the fish were. Finally, finding them down 85 feet. We had ok action, but the bite was over by 10:00.

A report from another friend said that he found some fish on the first bank.
