Jupiter FLorida Fly Fishing

Jacks like this one this morning are a blast on a fly rod.

Shuffle your feet and you'll not have a problem with these rays. Step on one and you'll be sorry, very sorry.

What a great morning I had wading the ICW in northern Palm Beach county. I tried a new spot and found big schools of glass minnows being chased by hungry jacks like this one. On a fly rod, heck on any rod, these fish fight hard and are great game fish. I was using an 8wt. knowing that there are bigger fish here that will kick my butt if it comes my way. I’ve seen jacks on the beach that weighed so much that I had to use two hands to hoist them up and guessed their weight at 30+ pounds, and I’ve caught them in the mid to high teens. Any of these big jacks will run away with what I’m using, but it will be fun.
